Never Leave Home Without It! (Monday, September 09, 2013)
Three years running and I'm still loving my tumbler. The new design is delightful, and it's such a relaxing addition to my night time routine of a hot herbal tea, a couple of nibbles and my favourite book or tv shows. If I'm meeting up with friends in a cafe, I take my tumbler empty and ask the server to fill it with their tea, and my friends have now caught on to the idea! It saves using disposable cups and the fact that it's BPA free is another bonus, I know I can use it again and again and not have to worry about anything toxic leeching into my tea.
The best invention (Thursday, August 29, 2013)
These tea travelers are the most amazing things ever. What a concept! Take your tea anywhere and enjoy it no matter where life takes you!
great. (Monday, August 26, 2013)
I gave this to my dad and when i got him a new one because his was looking shabby he didnt want to let it good! priceless! :)
Love it - one of a kind! (Thursday, August 01, 2013)
I have owned and loved your 12.85 oz. Tea Traveler mug for several years since I first purchased it from a tea store in Seattle, WA, and it is still serving me well. The removable strainer is what makes this tumbler so ingenious - I haven't been able to find another design like this, and have been looking for your website for quite a while. I'm very glad I finally came across your site. I’m also extra happy the tumbler is BPA-free. Please keep making these Tea Traveler mugs! At this point they are the ONLY travel mugs I’ve found that can brew loose leaf tea properly without requiring the drinker to remove a hot, drippy tea basket (not something I want to deal with when I'm traveling) or deal with over-steeped tea. I take it everywhere, and it makes me happy that I can have perfect tea anywhere as long as there’s hot water available. This is definitely a must for tea lovers. I’m looking forward to purchasing a second, larger, 22 oz. mug (because, you know, you can never have too much tea)! P.S. Another drinker mentioned hot tea spilling on her when she opened it once. Hot water expands no matter what kind of container it’s in. Since the tumbler has a spill-proof seal, a little pressure might build with the hot water in it. Just open the lid SLOWLY, letting the pressure out gradually and you will be okay and won’t get anything hot spilled on you. I’ve experienced the same thing with other kinds of tea tumblers as well and opening the lid slowly always does the trick.
The perfect travel mug (Wednesday, July 24, 2013)
Okay, I drink tea daily from a travel mug; while at university or at work, I always prefer to take my tea with me. I've tried all the models from David's Tea, but none come close to this one. It keeps your tea warm (During the winter, I drink my tea 2 hours following the infusion and it's perfect) without keeping it too hot like a thermos, and once you've tried loose leaf tea drinking, you'll never go back.
It's ok (Thursday, May 16, 2013)
It's not bad, but I don't think I'd buy it again. You have to be really careful not to get tea in the lip or it leaks, but that's expected. My main complaint is that the plastic stains, is hard(er) to clean, and isn't as good to drink out of. I guess if you need something that won't break rolling around in your car, this works, but if you're looking for something to carry around the office I'd spend the extra $15 and get glass.
If you drink tea, you need this! (Monday, January 21, 2013)
I received this as a gift for Christmas this year. A most welcome gift indeed as it has not left my side since December 25th. I like it so much that I have already purchased another one and have them on my list for everyone's birthday this year. It's the best way to brew, drink, and enjoy any loose leaf tea. It's by far the most convenient traveler for tea that I have ever owned. I get comments on it everywhere I take it and everyone always wants to know what kind of delicious smelling and beautiful looking tea I am drinking.
Variety (Saturday, December 08, 2012)
Like the variety in decorations. This is a great way for us to keep track of our own Tea Traveler.
Perfect for the traveling tea drinker (Wednesday, November 28, 2012)
I travel a lot and love carrying this for tea on the go. It keeps the tea hot. It's easy to fill, use and clean later. It's also attractive and eye-catching, and I frequently get queries as I'm using it.
A Huge Hit (Friday, October 12, 2012)
My husband & I saw someone with a tea traveler when we were on vacation a few years ago; when we asked about it, she just raved. I made a note to check out the website, and I ordered some as gifts. I have since placed 2 or 3 more orders (4 or 5 at a time). They are a hit with everyone I've given them to (and me too). Everyone loves them, and can't figure out why they are not being sold locally.
I'll try it (Tuesday, September 18, 2012)
Only 3 stars because I just now ordered it! This product caught my eye and heart immediately. I was initially looking for a tumbler that would allow me to re-use my tea leaves later on, but with the smallish size of this one I think I already drink quickly enough to get a couple cups out of the same batch (and to prevent over-brewing). It was strange that the woman in one of the videos suggested pouring your tea into another cup... Doesn't sound easy while on the go! Also, I like my tea HOT and STRONG, so I will not be using lower temps or less tea, as suggested. We'll see if it's the one for me. Excited for it to arrive in the mail!
Chinese character tea traveller (Monday, July 09, 2012)
I have bought two of these! they make for fantastic gifts and I use mine basically every day! the strainer is phenomenal and the three pieces make it so much easier to clean. if mine should ever break I know that I'll be getting a replacement ASAP.
what a wonderful product! (Tuesday, June 26, 2012)
I have been on a search for the perfect travel mug and this is it! easy to clean, easy to carry. Initially concerned about the smaller size, I have to say I like it! Since I'm reusing the same leaves throughout the day and brewing at a lower temp, a smaller cup lets me finish the whole thing at the perfect temp. Shipping was fast and convenient. When a different lid color comes out I will be buying another one!
I LOVE IT (Monday, March 05, 2012)
This is by far one of the best tea tumblers I have come across and I spent hours searching reviews online. It is COMPLETELY leakproof and perfect to throw in my bag as I'm on the run. It is easy to clean, and so far it is indestructable (I've dropped a couple of times quite strongly and no breakage!). It can also be used for coffee or iced drinks (blocks the ice!). I use it almost every day and receive a lot of compliments from fellow looseleaf tea lovers. great price for such a great product.
obsessed with my tea traveler! (Wednesday, February 15, 2012)
i found the tea traveler and teas etc. on pinterest and it was instant love. as a lover of loose leaf tea, i couldn't believe such a marvel existed and ordered right away. i have not been disappointed - the traveler never leaves my hands - it's perfect for on the go, or just working at home. i haven't had any problems with steeping different kinds of tea, and it keeps the tea hot. i have since purchased another as a gift for my sister who also loves it. the tea looks beautiful inside it as it steeps - it brings many questions and compliments. thank you beth and teas etc. for such wonderful customer service and quality products!
Best Travel Mug (Saturday, January 21, 2012)
Don't understand why a couple reviewers have had any problems with their mugs. I've had mine for over 3 months now and use it constantly from morning till night daily. It has never leaked when the seals were in place and lids screwed on. I have also dropped it from counter height to the tile covered cement floor. The top of the lid did come apart but I simply put it back into the lid and it has been fine since. Yes, it has gotten stained and I don't know the best answer to that problem. I do know the woman who owns the shop where I purchased it puts hers in the dishwasher and hers is as clear as a new one. I've bought several as back-ups in case I leave mine somewhere and as gifts. Never want to be without it!
:"( but :"D (Wednesday, January 18, 2012)
I miss my Tea Traveler. Accidentally left it on the bus on my way home from work, never to be seen again. Thankfully, remembered your name - so can now buy new! One of the things I love(d) most about my Traveler? Aside from the fact it brews wonderfully, it also attracts a lot of attention/makes for interesting conversation – positive, of course. Many are fascinated/curious as to what it is, especially when watching the jasmine pearls unfold - a "science experiment", some say. Really, I think it’s also a quirky/fun fashion accessory. I have used this mug for other beverages aside from just HOT tea - iced tea, water (especially while at the gym).. BEST, definitely. Over the years I've tried similar mugs/thermoses. None can hold a candle to the Tea Traveler – both brewing-wise and aesthetically.
Chinese Character Tea Traveler (Saturday, January 07, 2012)
Love, love, love my tea traveler mug...just wish it kept the tea hot longer!
A great product made prettier (Saturday, December 03, 2011)
I love these - and get comments on them all the time. I don't use them to brew my tea; instead I brew in my teapot and use the traveller to take to work, or anywhere I go. They don't leak when the cap is put on properly. It will not keep your tea hot for hours, but that doesn't bother me. Using good quality tea ( thank you Beth and Norman for that) means as it cools, it still tastes wonderful.
Great but Stains Quickly (Saturday, November 19, 2011)
Before I give any criticism, let me say that I LOVE this travel mug. It is easy to use and I bring it with me everywhere with no leaks. However there is an annoying thing that I think could be improved. The width and mouth of the container need to be widened. It is incredibly difficult to fit my hand in the container to scrub it (I am a female with small/medium hands) and it absolutely needs to be scrubbed. Often I will go out with it and not be able to wash out the tea remains immediately, it stains very quickly and leaves residue if you cannot scrub it. After a couple of weeks mine has a yellow tinge to it which I can't seem to get out. They suggests not to use soap but you honestly have to, just use a mild natural soap and rinse well.
Great Way to Drink Tea (Tuesday, November 15, 2011)
I use my travel mug all day, every day. It is nice to take to work and have at work, in the car, and at home (to keep my cats from sniffing the delightful herbs). I liked it so much, I got the Teas Etc travel mug (even though I really like the Chinese characters on this one)!
Chinese Character Tea Traveler (Saturday, November 05, 2011)
I love this cup...it is wonderful when I do not have the time to sit down and enjoy a nice brewed cup of loose leaf tea at home. Hot water, throw in a scoop of tea, put lid on and I'm good to go...and it is pretty to look at...have gifted other's with this wonderful cup and they love it also...
What a mug.. (Monday, September 12, 2011)
I am enjoying my travel mug each day. Easy to take care of, if only it would re-fill itself!! I like simple things, this is about as simple as it gets. It serves a great mug of tea time after time.
Marvelous product! (Friday, September 09, 2011)
Love my Tea Traveler!!! Take it with me everywhere. I also carry an insulated mug filled with hot, boiled water, so I can refill and resteep wherever I go. Does just what you advertised-no pieces of tea in the drink, totally leakproof (as long as lid is on).
love love love this tea traveler (Monday, July 18, 2011)
This is the second one I ordered.........I use it everyday and love the convenience of it.......
please make more (Thursday, May 19, 2011)
I hope you guys are coming out with a new version soon...Honestly I love this because it is plastic and light. I do have a couple of suggestions, please make a pink one! Or at least a couple of different colors. I ordered red because the green one has too large of a logo and I think it detracts from the look...Please make everything dishwasher safe...I am not sure if it is or isn't but I ran mine through and the mesh started to get some rust stains on it... :( Please make a special lid that allows drinking in the car...Right now drinking in the car even as a passenger is very difficult. Please make a larger capacity (preferably longer, similar to a smartwater bottle... :) Other then that, this is a fantastic product and I have had no issues with leaks and with the cap on the heat is retained well..I will keep checking back and hopefully there will be a new improved version soon!
On the run (Wednesday, May 04, 2011)
The mug is a splendid way of brewing and enjoying tea in a quick efficient way. The only complaint is there needs to be a bigger capacity mug, + A sippy cap would be great too.
Must Have! (Wednesday, March 30, 2011)
I bought these for our daughter and son-in-law. They loved them SO much, I bought them for my husband and me. We use them EVERY day and honestly don't know how we lived without them! They never leak and we use boiling water. We use them at home as well as on the go. It's so nice being able to use loose tea without having to strain it in to another cup. Also watching the beautiful tea leaves swirl around is very calming(: I just purchased another one as a gift and will continue to do so. Honestly, I can't say enough about how awesome the "Tea Travelers" are!!
a bit disappointed (Monday, March 21, 2011)
I bought 2 of these for my husband. The ones we bought in China 3 years ago finally fell apart and I had a hard time locating others. So I was happy to find them here. The design of these are different in that there is no designated sipping area from the container making it easy to spill on oneself. Also, the ones we had before had a loop handle so they were easy to carry. These are not. another problem is that they leak. Beware and never put it in any bag with anything you don't want to get wet and ruined. Giving it 3 stars because are usable if you are sitting in one place sipping and not going anywhere. So not exactly a travel mug...
Tea Traveler (Thursday, February 10, 2011)
I use this tea traveler every day, and it works great! It's very easy to use and to clean, and it holds the perfect amount of tea. I got one for my sister, and she loves it, too!
Always need a spare (Friday, February 04, 2011)
I have used the Teas Etc. green lid Tea Traveler since summer of 2009. When I saw this new color design - I fell in love with it and splurged to give myself a choice in color. Took it to an out-of-state family gathering and ended up giving it away to my niece who fell in love with it. Now I need to order another. Durable, practical, and makes drinking loose leaf tea so easy. I just bought another one to send to my niece's mother. I can't imagine not having one. Fits easily in car cup holders. I place the red lid under the traveler and it naturally stays in place - sort of like a built in coaster.
AMAZING! (Tuesday, February 01, 2011)
I get so many complements on my tea traveler mug!. Either people are really intrigued by the cup or they are truly disgusted by it! I find it funny either way. I won't leave home without it!
Tea Traveler (Monday, January 31, 2011)
After looking at several different brands I decided on this one and I am so glad I did. It is easy to use and is very good quality. I am very satisfied with this purchase!
so cool (Saturday, January 15, 2011)
a client gave this to me cos she loved hers and now I am getting them for others! such a conversation piece and really encourages one to drink lots and lots of tea! tip: when you get tea trapped above the screen from tilting it this way or that way, just tilt it to the side and it will go back into the chamber below. don't try to pour water thru the screen! oh no.
This is the one I bought my wife... (Friday, January 07, 2011)
We had the standard version, which I loved and was all the rage at work...And so my wife demanded one, so I ordered this one, and I gave her my old one...Because I like this one better. ;)
Tea travelers. (Friday, January 07, 2011)
If you are looking for a gift for tea lovers this would be the best choice. I gave out a lot of them to my family members and friends, and still buying more and more.
Love this mug. (Sunday, December 05, 2010)
This is the most enjoyable tea drinking to go experience. I initially purchased one for me and my bf (who also uses it almost every day). Whenever I bring it anywhere, people ask about it. I think i've sold at least 4 to other people. It works great, doesn't spill when i throw it in my bag, and is super easy to clean. If you are looking for a new travel mug, this is it.
Love this mug (Thursday, December 02, 2010)
This is the second tea traveler that I have purchased from Tea etc. I absolutely love it!
Best ever gift to a tea lover (Monday, November 08, 2010)
Beth, I have purchased well over 30 of these tea travel buddies as a gift for all our tea lover family and friends. So far I have heard nothing but "raves" for it. Most people are so fascinated by "what is in your cup" -- This starts many conversations. Now I am branching out with the tea travel buddy. I am a tea specialist doing tea education and tasting programs. The tea travel buddy is my biggest seller. Everyone wants one. I am so happy that I am turning people on to loose tea. Thank you, Beth.
Excellent travel mug (Tuesday, September 07, 2010)
And I mean travel mug! We bought this mug and brought it in our luggage on a recent 3 week land excursion to Alaska! It was worth far more than what we paid! I know enough about tea making to know real tea snobs will not like this -- but in a pinch we were able to make ourselves something to drink with the hot water faucet! Fortunately, a source of boiled hot water was accessible most of the time, but this mug lived up to its purpose. We bring a lot of herbs for sore throats, stomach upset, etc when we travel and this mug made it possible to enjoy our tea whenever we felt the need!
This is what I've been looking for! (Wednesday, August 25, 2010)
I've been looking for a plastic travel mug that would showcase the tea I'm drinking. I saw the one at another site but it was made of glass which is impractical, especially since I have to juggle everything and a baby. I wish there were more designs and other cap colors so that there isn't a mix up with mugs between friends and family since I want to get more for gifts. I also feel that at 12fl oz. It's really neither here nor there. Why isn't it 16fl oz? So it's exactly 2 cups of tea.
I have dropped (Friday, July 30, 2010)
I have been using the tea traveler for over a year. I have dropped it several times. It has even rolled under the car on a cement driveway. It still works fine.
do not drop! (Tuesday, July 20, 2010)
I thought this was the best mug I had found in a long time. That was until it took a spill. From a height of only two feet, the mug tumbled out of my bag and fell on the ground. Apparently that was all it took to render this mug useless. the seal will not hold and the lid is warped enough for liquid to come out quite a bit when everything is screwed on tight. While I take full responsibility for dropping it, I am pretty surprised that such a short fall would basically make it unusable. My search for a better mug will continue I suppose.
Wonderful cup! (Thursday, July 15, 2010)
I recently ordered this cup and have been enjoying it daily for a few days now. I agree with the other reviewers who say this is the best travel cup for tea that I have ever used. I find that the cup gets a bit hotter than the product description implies; however, I do not care for tea made with less than very hot water, so use my usual temperature in this cup. It is definitely important to put the screen top on before pouring in the water! I did not do that the first time and was baptized with hot water (ouch!) that leaked out. The outer lid seals very well and I've had no leaking (once I put the screen on correctly). I am heating water in a saucepan, and find that I must be careful when pouring to mimic the thinner stream from a teakettle, otherwise I get an airlock below the screen and the water does not wish to go down into the cup. This has not happened since I got the hang of what was necessary and in no way diminishes my appreciation of this fine product.
Awesome (Wednesday, June 23, 2010)
Just bought this today. Its amazing. doesnt put any flavor on my tea liek previous mugs have. and the strainer can be taken out if you are just having a normal drink. I will use this EVERY DAY!!!
Chinese Character Tea Traveler (Friday, June 11, 2010)
I asked my Chinese friend to translate the characters on the cup. She said it was a poem to the new tea leaves and the earth that grows them. It’s appropriate for this tea traveler, which I love using. Every day! I even use it for drinks other than tea…like water with lemon slices. I am also impressed with the product’s quality. I plan to purchase a few more so I don’t have to keep washing this one out every night!
I keep buying them! (Sunday, May 30, 2010)
These travel mugs are great! I keep buying them as gifts. Can't recommend them enough!!
Love thats its BPA free (Wednesday, May 26, 2010)
This traveler was out of stock when I placed my 1st order so I got the glass cup. This one is GREAT no tea parts get thru. I LOVE this cup.
Traveling with my Tea Buddy (Wednesday, May 19, 2010)
Beth, I am headed to the Mediterranean today with my travel tea buddy and your sample teas. I would not think of going anywhere without my tea travel buddy. I am personally on my second one and have given dozens as gifts. Central PA is being introduced to loose tea through your travel tea buddy. Thank you. Everyone I have given it to just loves it.
Awesome Travel Mug!! (Wednesday, May 19, 2010)
I recently purchased this travel mug and oh my goodness, how I wish I'd have learned about it years ago! This mug is PERFECT for the tea lover! It's very sturdy, absolutely doesn't leak and brews tea beautifully on the go! I love it!
Tea Traveler (Wednesday, May 12, 2010)
My tea traveler goes to work with me everyday. I just love it.
LOVE THIS MUG! (Saturday, May 01, 2010)
I can't say enough great things about this travel mug. It goes with me everywhere--it's super durable, double walled, and I've never had a problem with it leaking. I believe the mug itself is dishwasher safe, too!
Favorite Mug! (Saturday, May 01, 2010)
All my friends want to know where I bought this mug from. It's an excellent tea mug, I bring it with me everywhere! I give them as gifts, and everyone seems to agree with me!
Great Mug! (Tuesday, April 27, 2010)
Hands down the best travel tea mug out there. The plastic is double walled, so it never gets too hot for your hands. I only wish it was a little bigger!
Tea travel mug (Tuesday, April 06, 2010)
This travel mug is just what I was looking for. It keeps the tea hot. I use it at work - the floating tea leaves add intrest.
Handy, Novel, Fun (Friday, April 02, 2010)
First, I love combining the steeping process into one easy, on-the-go step. I was very surprised just how well this mug keeps the tea hot, for a long time. Plus, it looks neat, which is just an added bonus.
Tea Travel Mug (Saturday, March 20, 2010)
My mom bought one of these mugs from a spa recently and has been using it daily. I finally tracked it down on this website and bought it and I couldn't be more happy with my purchase! This mug is perfect for taking to my college classes. The tea is heated perfectly, but the outside of the mug never feels too hot. It fits in the cup holder in my car and also in the beverage pocket of my backpack. I also accidentally tipped the mug over on my bed, but because of the lid, nothing leaked out. This product does everything it claims to do and more.
Finally! (Friday, March 19, 2010)
I have found the perfect travel mug to take my tea with me. It drove me crazy thinking about all the waste I was producing from to-go paper cups. No more! This mug is the perfect solution. Pros: Easy to clean, simple design, and low cost. Cons: I only wish it held a little more water--but it's not too big of a deal. Over all I love it!
Love the Tea Travel Mug (Tuesday, March 02, 2010)
I wanted to cut back on my coffee drinking at work, but didn't want to go the tea bags/coffee mug route. I decided to order the Tea Travel Mug and loose tea, and it has been great! I've only had the Tea Travel Mug for a week, but I use it every day at work - refilling it several times a day. Everyone at work thinks it is pretty cool, and I tell them all to go to Teasetc.com to get their own mug and tea.
travel mug (Saturday, February 27, 2010)
I love this little cutie and fill it up for any trip off island. I like that it keeps the tea warm enough, fits easily in my cup holder, and seals up tight.
Fantastic mug (Wednesday, February 24, 2010)
This mug is perfect for the loose tea I purchased. It not only keeps the tea hot without being too hot to handle...but it cleans up easily. The lid is leak proof too.
Awsome, Never leaks filters great. (Wednesday, February 17, 2010)
This mug is easy to clean, filters great, and it is easy to use. Perfect for on the go or work. People I come across at work think it is pretty neat.
Bought three so far (Monday, February 15, 2010)
I am very pleased with this travel mug. It looks good and does a great job. I have bought three so far, one for home, one for work, and one for a gift. Although I have no reservations about recommending this mug, I want to point out two things. First, it is not a double-walled, vacuum-insulated thermos so it does warm up a bit just after you pour in the water. Second, you will have to thoroughly wash the mug after having anything aromatic, such as the Chamomile Lavender Organic, to prevent the plastic seals from holding the aroma around until your next cup of tea.
great tea mug and fast shipping (Saturday, February 13, 2010)
the tea mug is very good to use with long leaf tea. i have no problems with the tea cup at all works great and the shipping was faster the the tea i ordered at the same time from someone else its well worth the buy for the mug thank you very much sean
LOVE IT!! (Saturday, February 13, 2010)
Just got this Travel Mug this year and LOVE IT, LOVE IT just like the reviews said I would. It does NOT leak at all even if you shake it, and it is so unique. I am now buying more for gifts!
Love Love Love it! (Saturday, January 16, 2010)
I have been looking for a mug like this for a long time and I love it! It works well and dose not leek. I also love that the out side stays cool enough to hold but my tea stay hot/warm. The tea looks so pretty also!
EXCELLENT PRODUCT (Wednesday, January 13, 2010)
I am a traveling consultant, I don't leave home with out it!!! I will be ordering more!! KUDOS TO THE CREATOR OF THIS MUG
AWESOME (Tuesday, January 12, 2010)
This has to be one of the best products ever for having tea on the go. I purchased this as a gift but have used it on many occasions.. I might just buy one for myself!
perfect for carrying tea on the go (Thursday, January 07, 2010)
I never used to drink tea in the mornings because I didn't want to sit around and wait for it to brew in my teapot, and then pour the tea into a travel mug. (I'm a bike commuter, so I need something that can seal completely.) Now that I have this mug, I can prepare my tea before I leave for the office, screw on the cap, throw it into my bag, and the tea will still be hot by the time I arrive to the office 30 minutes later. No leaks! I've been searching for a long time for a mug that fit my routine, and am really glad that I found it!
Amazing in just about every way (Thursday, December 31, 2009)
This mug is gorgeous. I am in love with it. I constantly get compliments on it and everyone knows it is mine in the break room at work. There are pros and cons to this one, but overall the pros overwhelm any imperfections. Pros: Nice and sturdy design Very pretty Tea looks gorgeous in it Stays hot, but isn't too hot to hold Nice tight seal, doesn't leak in a bag Easy to clean Plastic, but thick and looks nice Cons: Can't take out the tea leaves. They have a video on the site explaining how to get around oversteeping due to this issue. In accordance with the video, I too use the same methods and still enjoy a fantastic cup of tea on the go. -Use a little less tea than normal, especially with dark, strong teas. -Use water that is just a tad bit cooler than recommended. While it may change the quality of the tea a tiny bit, it won't become too bitter sitting in the cup the whole time. Overall, I love this thing. You will love it too.
Great find! (Saturday, December 26, 2009)
I was really debating this mug as I've already bought a few different types of travel tea mugs in the past. However, upon arrival, this mug has done nothing short of making me drink tea with it daily. Its construction is great. There are no loose parts between the body, strainer, and cap. I emailed Beth before regarding whether or not it was leak proof and she said it was. In order to test it, I filled it to the brim and vigorously shaked it in order to simulate (kind of) what a bumpy walk might be like. Not a single spill or drop. However, it is important to mention, sometimes the water likes to pool above the strainer, so you have to be careful to give it a few taps to make it drop down. Again, that's only a result of tipping it upside down. Figuring out how to brew the tea is another matter, but so far, none of my teas have tasted worse at all. I've been drinking them more if anything because of this mug.
The perfect travel mug (Wednesday, December 16, 2009)
I got my travel mug and a bag of gunpowder green tea and couldn't wait to try them out. Gunpowder can be a difficult tea to brew correctly and I wasn't sure if it was going to work well with this travel mug and, no surprises here, my first cup turned out unpleasantly bitter. Frustrated, I emailed Beth (of Ask Beth fame) and, to my surprise, got a reply within an hour of my email. She and I tried several configurations, over several days, until we finally got to the perfect combination of gunpowder green and water temperature. I can't believe how wonderful the customer service was here at Teas Etc. For anyone who is curious, 170 deg. Fahrenheit water and a scant (scant being the key word) teaspoon of gunpowder will give a wonderful cup that, even after 30 minutes of steeping, will not be bitter.
Great Mug (Saturday, December 12, 2009)
This mug is a great mug for traveling and using loose leaf teas. The first time I used it many complimments were recieved.
Best tea mug ever (Tuesday, December 01, 2009)
This is my second one--I keep one at work, one at home. I love the see my tea brewing, and this is a lovely way to drink my tea.
This mug is a survivor!! (Friday, November 13, 2009)
I have written a review before, but now I feel the need to add to it: I have used this mug for a couple of years now, and it has fallen SPECTACULARLY -- including from the second floor of a building and even out of a car! It has come to work with me in ice and snow, as well as sweltering heat, been tossed around tool boxes, it has gone through many airport security procedures, gone to a couple of mountain tops, several continents, been lost and then found, and it has been my constant companion through many jobs and adventures. Through all that, it is STILL working! Completely leak proof! It looks really cool now -- all scratched up and full of character. Many people have asked me about it, and I recommend it hotly. I just thought you guys should know that you can count on it for years to come. :-)
Great product. (Wednesday, November 04, 2009)
Love this mug. Very pretty and holds alot of tea. Easy to clean.
Terrific Travel Mugs (Monday, September 21, 2009)
I have bought around a dozen of these travel mugs & I use them all the time. I have given them as gifts to family & friends. Tea Lovers will find the travel mugs very useful. I always get asked what I am drinking because they see the tea leaves brewing in the mug. If you are looking for unique gifts, try giving these mugs this coming Christmas.
Best Travel mug for Tea EVER! (Wednesday, August 12, 2009)
This is the best Travel or for home mug for loose tea ever! I actually went to China in March and came home with a mug similar to this one but the screen snapped in. It broke the first week I was back. Now I can drink the wonderful teas I bought there.
The Greatest! (Monday, August 03, 2009)
To date I have bought 15 of these tea travel buddies for myself and friends. I give these to all my friends as gifts and they just love them. No matter where I go with my tea travel buddy people ask "what are you drinking -- that cup is fantastic! Where did you get it?" I just wonder how many I have sold for Teas Etc? This is the greatest tea accessory I have found to date and I consider myself a tea aficionado since I am a professional tea educator. Buy! Enjoy! and Stay Healthy with Tea!
Travel Mug (Monday, July 13, 2009)
Love this mug! I love that I can put my tea leaves in and fill it up with hot water wherever I am.
Tea Mug/Glass (Saturday, July 11, 2009)
This mug is great for brewing tea. I like to see the tea leaves unfold in the tall, clear cup. It is quite the conversation piece at work. I like this one so much, I am going to order some for gifts, and another one for me, too. I recommend this tea glass highly.
Tea to Go and Stay (Monday, July 06, 2009)
My sister saw this mug on a co-workers desk and asked where she got it. She sent me to the we site and I immediately ordered 3, 1 for me, 1 for her and 1 for her best friend. This mug works great on the desk top because I don't have to worry about spilling. I have since ordered more for gifts and additional loose leaf tea to go with mine. I'm hooked!
travel tea mug (Monday, June 22, 2009)
A great loose tea brewing solution as well - gave as a gift and got one for myself too!
A great way to drink beautiful teas (Saturday, June 13, 2009)
It is such a pleasure to see the tea leaves swirling around. I don't know how many conversations have started with "What are you drinking?"
A work of art!! (Thursday, May 14, 2009)
A great functional travel tea mug. Beautiful to look at, especially with the Jun Shan Yellow Tea. Just worried it might be stolen off my desk at work, so I bought 2 just to be safe.
Makes My Tea Bitter (Monday, May 11, 2009)
Keeping the leaves steeped for that long makes my tea bitter. I wish there was a way to remove the leaves. Looks cool though.
Tea Travel Mug (Monday, May 11, 2009)
I have been searching for the "perfect" travel mug for quite some time, as evidenced by all the variations sitting on my shelves. This is as close to perfect as I have found. I would have given it 5 stars except for two small issues I have noticed. The first is that if I screw the tops on when the water is too hot, it will leak. I solve this by letting it cool a bit before placing the lids on. The other is that the filter does allow some tiny pieces of rooibos through. Be prepared to answer alot of questions when you carry this mug, everyone seems to be intrigued by it!
Conversation starter (Monday, May 04, 2009)
This mug deffinately gets people talking. It's convenience is great and it looks so beautiful with the teas floating around in it.
Tea To Go Mug (Tuesday, April 14, 2009)
I have been properly mugged! A must have for all tea drinkers! I am buying another one right now!Walt da tomato guy
Fantastic! (Sunday, March 22, 2009)
What a great invention! Everyone who sees this mug has questions and wants one (even strangers)! I have to buy a few more - friends NEED their own. I won't give them mine. Fantastic Find!
Love it!!! (Tuesday, March 17, 2009)
I love this mug. I would give it 6 stars if I could. It works great and it's very convenient. I highly recommend getting this mug.
Great idea (Wednesday, March 04, 2009)
This little travel mug has been great to brew my favorite teas at work. It stays warm for quite a while and the flowering teas are so beautiful in it. I am going to get one for one of the doctors I work for.
Gotta have one (Saturday, January 03, 2009)
We love these. Traveling to China earlier in the year we noted Chinese with tea leaves in insultated containers that they used all day just by adding hot water periodically. They seemed to strain the tea leaves with their teeth. These work the similarly - loose tea in the container and hot water. You can replenish water througout the day and enjoy hot tea, only the strainer takes care of the tea leaves for you.
Must have! (Tuesday, December 30, 2008)
I love this mug, I use it everyday. What a great product, a tea lovers must have!
Whoa! (Friday, December 26, 2008)
This is the coolest mug ever!!! So clever and so useful... It was the greatest Christmas gift! I have been using it non-stop since I opened it Christmas Eve. Thanks M & C!!!
Great "mug" (Friday, December 26, 2008)
This is such a nice tea container. I like how toasty it keeps the tea, and how well the strainer works.
Travel mug the best (Monday, December 15, 2008)
I have recommended this travel mug to a dozen people do far. That may be why it's sold out right now! Great product in every way. I like how the vessel gets warm to the touch and still keeps my tea very hot.
mug (Wednesday, December 10, 2008)
i ordered this as a gift and ended up keeping it for myself because i loved it even more in person. i love that its clear and you can see the tea leaves open up especially with the jade red towers it looks great!
Give this mug a chance (Wednesday, December 10, 2008)
When I first saw this travel mug on the site I was super excited. Then I got it home (about a year ago) and the first cup of tea I drank from it tasted like plastic. I was very disappointed and felt like I had wasted my money. I didn't want to give it away b/c if I didn't wanted who would? right? So last week I thought I would give it another try. I took it to work with me and the second cup I brewed in it tasted less like plastic. By the third I can't even taste it anymore. I have a very delicate palate so if the taste was still there I would know. I'm not sure what happened. Maybe the cup just needed breaking in or the water I was using at home was too hot. But now I can't live with out this mug. I take it everywhere every day. I love it.
Travel Mug (Tuesday, December 09, 2008)
Holds quite a bit of tea!! An excellent invention and pretty too! I bought one for every tea drinker I know! The outside stays cool and it is insulated very well.
Best travel mug yet! (Thursday, October 30, 2008)
I tried this through a friend of mine and immediately searched to buy my own. The teas look gorgeous in the clear thick cup and the strainer and top really don't leak. I even carried it with me on my motorcycle to work the other day in a messenger bag pocket so I wouldn't have to give up my fresh-brewed cup of tea. I have been drawn back to loose teas which are often fresher and have whole flowers and leaves to unfurl. Thanks for carrying this product. It will be this year's favorite holiday present for my friends and family.
whata mug (Tuesday, October 28, 2008)
what a wonderfull container, it really insulates great, and it really locks itself tight, i use mine every day, thanks for a great product.
travel mug (Sunday, October 26, 2008)
It has a beautiful picture of a tree on the top and it is so easy to use. I take it with me everywhere I go.
Good (but small) travel mug (Wednesday, October 22, 2008)
i LOVE this mug. It is beautiuful, it is quality, it doesn't leak, and most amazingly -- the outside remains comfortable to the touch, no matter how hot the tea is inside! It is a work of art. The only issue with it I have is that it's too small for me. I drink lots and lots of tea, and this one is just a few sips. So i carry it around with me and get it refilled with hot water everywhere. Very worth the purchase.
Perfect (Saturday, September 27, 2008)
I found this item featured in the Palm Beach Post and thought first of my daughter at college in Iowa. She loves hot tea, and what better way to warm yourself on your way to class in the freezing weather! I bought her one and then myself one and we both love this product!
Excellent (Saturday, September 20, 2008)
I have, for the longest time, been looking for a teapot/brewing vessel to use at work. Something that can brew good tea (unlike most plastic pieces I've used), but isn't fragile like a ceramic and doesn't weigh 10lbs like a cast iron. And now I have, and this is it. It's as solid as a club and doesn't get clogged/brew flat tea like the pots that have a valve/filter in the bottom to drain into the cup when placed on top.
Outstanding! (Tuesday, August 12, 2008)
I really love this new mug. I have been using it with the flowering teas - they look so beautiful and you can see them so clearly in this mug. It keeps the tea amazingly hot and does well straining the tea. Easy to clean (I hand wash it)and seals tightly - no leaking! Would be nice if it had a lid that you could drink through for when you're driving...but still a great purchase!
Very nice! (Tuesday, July 22, 2008)
I ordered this several months ago and I am very happy with it. I've used it on a weekly basis since getting it. I am happy with the mug. It does a good job and is neat looking. I just wish I knew what it said in all that Chinese writing!
Travel Mug (Monday, July 21, 2008)
I love the travel mug! I like that you can have the freshness of warm or cold tea without the worry of tea bags! I am going to get a few more for gifts!
AMAZING (Monday, July 14, 2008)
This mug totally lives up to its reviews. I have been looking for a tea travel mug for loose tea for awhile and this is PERFECT. It doesn't leak and the tea stays warm for quite awhile, while my hands do not. So may people have commented on it and asked where I got it from.
Travel Mug (Wednesday, July 02, 2008)
I received a mug as I gift and was so impressed with it that I purchased one for my daughter. Everyone who walks into my office and sees it on my desk inquires about it. Not only is it versitile, but it is great looking
What a great concept! (Tuesday, June 24, 2008)
This product is an absolute must for tea drinkers on-the-go. I use mine all the time and I've not had any problems with leaking. What a great gift idea!
Tea to go - best yet. (Friday, June 13, 2008)
I travel for a living. This product has made tea consumption so much easier on the road. No longer do I have to search for a way to strain leaves while driving. The product works great, is easy to clean, and is definitely an eye catcher. I highly recommend this mug for the traveler.
Travel Mug (Wednesday, June 04, 2008)
I received a travel mug with one flowering tea inside. I was amazed and delighted with it. I immediately bought a travel mug for my daughter along with a sampler box of teas to share with her. I am now hooked on both the travel mug and flowering teas. What a great gift to give and receive.
Great Product (Monday, April 28, 2008)
I received this mug as a gift, and I LOVE it. It is so convenient at work, and in the car. I especially love using it with the floweing teas!
Excellent and Classy Looking Mug for Tea on the Go (Saturday, April 26, 2008)
I recently received my travel mug from Teas Etc and have already used it quite a bit. The mug is classy and looks great, however, more importantly it is functional and allows me to drink tea on the go. After a bike ride with it today, I've gotten back home and am now ordering two more so that I can keep one in the car and have one in the office at my desk where I drink a lot of tea. I spent several months in China and regret that I didn't purchase a nice travel mug for green tea while I was there. They are fairly common but I put it off until I ran out of time. It didn't seem like a big deal since I figured I would buy one when I got back here to the states. Unfortunately it is hard to find a nice travel mug with a trainer. I've poured over lots of sites, and brick-and-mortar stores looking for a flask or thermos with a built in screen/strainer, all to no avail. Not only have I finally found one, but the one from Teas Etc works great and looks nice. Keep up the great work!
Love it! (Friday, April 25, 2008)
I love this idea and design. Does anyone know what the japanese writing says that is displayed on the cup?
Great for travel (Thursday, April 24, 2008)
This is a great travel mug. Thanks for providing the directions, since the box is written in Chinese!
I need more mugs! (Sunday, April 20, 2008)
I bought two mugs for my husband's bday, but now I need to order more. One for everyone. I like to use toasted brown rice and a decaf green tea for the full taste of genmai chai without the caffeine. I love these mugs, and will be ordering two more when I complete this review.
fab travel mug (Friday, April 04, 2008)
My student came to class bearing this beauty and I not only bought one for myself but then another for my brother-in-law, since it is bar none the BEST travel mug ever!!
best ever (Friday, April 04, 2008)
Thanks so much for this mug. I use it every day. I fill it up when I leave for work and fill it up again to drink on the way home. I knocked it over one morning and thought there goes my tea but not one drop spilled out. I have had many comments on it at the hospital where I work.
Travel tea cup of perfection (Monday, March 31, 2008)
I loved this so much I bought two and I may end up buying more from my friends and family. It makes taking tea to work and school easy and fun.
Great mug (Tuesday, March 25, 2008)
I've found this mug/cup to be really great while traveling and going to class. Everyone asks me where they can get one and after searching for a long time I finally found your site. Thanks.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this MUG (Thursday, March 20, 2008)
This is a great mug. It makes taking my teas on the run so much easier. I use it every single day and it is holding up so well. I have at least one person every couple of days ask where I got it. This is a FABULOUS gift idea for any tea drinker.
travel mug (Wednesday, March 19, 2008)
I love it. At work we share tea site information. I was given a similar product smaller in size at christmas from someone at work I loved it so much I started search the internet and found your product which is larger its great.
great bottle (Friday, March 14, 2008)
The tea bottle is great. I have had one for 4 years (i sell them in my shop) Yes they are dishwasher safe, except for the lid. If it has a hologram on it with plastic over; water will get underneath. I use mine on cruises and when I go to conventions. You can hot or cold brew your tea in them. I have one customer that actually uses his when he is camping to cook rice!! You can pretty much cold brew any tea. Just takes longer. If you hot brew try different teas till you find the one you like. I juse Bao Zhong in mine and I hot brew. My husband uses Hojicha or genmiacha in his and he cold brews.
Tea Travel Mug (Wednesday, March 12, 2008)
This travel mug is a must for anyone on the go, home or work. It's much more convenient than using a tea diffuser or tea ball to filter the leaves. This mug is dishwasher safe, has a screen to filter the leaves from drinking, and a tight screw top lid to keep the contents from escaping. I've had no experiance with any leaks and am very satisfied with the product. It is nice looking and I have gotten a lot of positive comments on it.
Perfect mug (Tuesday, March 11, 2008)
Well I wont be using this mug in the car, not because of the design, but I can't do other things while I drive. I tried last night and it worked like a charm. I plan to use this mug for work and I'm thinking I might have to buy one for home when I don't want to use my tea pot.
Ok, so far (Monday, March 10, 2008)
I've been using the mug for a few days. I love that it's clear so the pretty teas (organic white rose and flowering) are visible. I agree that drinking from the threaded top isn't great and not recommended while moving. :) I was disappointed that there were no instructions with it. Does anyone know if it's dishwasher- or microwave-safe? If it is, that would upgrade my review to 4 stars.
travel mug (Friday, March 07, 2008)
This is that best purchase I made. I had to use it as soon as I took it out of the box. I wish that it had a changeable lid so you could drink it in the car. Would look for someone making a sip lid for the travel.
Love this mug!! (Saturday, March 01, 2008)
I saw someone with this mug and had to have it. So I searched and searched the internet for it and finally found it here. I use it every day! thanks!!
GREAT! (Saturday, January 26, 2008)
So happy I ordered 2! The tea travel mugs are GREAT! These will make great gifts for tea-lovers.
Great Travel Mug (Tuesday, January 15, 2008)
I received my tea travel mug today and it is great. It has a nice oriental design on it and I know it will work perfectly for that tea on the run. Thanks for another fantastic item. Michelle Metcalf
excited but not overjoyed (Monday, January 14, 2008)
I really do like the mug but was a little disappointed it has not proven to be water tight which has led to a few mishaps. It is though the best mug i have yet seen for loose tea, most come with some sort of odd mesh ball or cone that floats inside, the mesh border at the top is by far more convenient and a better aesthetic.
Can't keep them on the shelf (Wednesday, January 09, 2008)
I'm selling a ton of these mugs. What a great invention. So easy and handy. They show off your teas and keep them warm and tidy for travel. If you carry one around be prepared to take orders from your friends. Try a flowering tea in one. It lasts all day, and fascinates everyone viewing it. Rising sun looks great and taste fantastic. Please get more of these in stock, I have a feeling they will be huge sellers for a long time. Connie
THE BEST (Tuesday, January 08, 2008)
ITS PERFECT IN THE MORNING TO TAKE TO WORK. I PUT 2 TEASPOONS OF THE CHUNMEE GREEN TEA IN IT, I GET TO FILL IT UP THREE TIMES BEFORE IT LOOSES ITS TASTE. IT KEEPS IT HOT AND LAST TILL NOON. ILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DRINK BAGGED TEA AGAIN.
great idea (Sunday, December 16, 2007)
I love these mugs. I had to buy 2 more for my sons(11 and 13 years old) so my wife and I could have our mugs back. These mugs do not leak. I have ordered 7 of these mugs for family and friends because everybody loves the idea. I am new to loose leaf teas and these mugs were a great way to start out.
