Gyokuro Jade DewUser reviewsAverage customer review:
I recently gave this a poor review. I have a huge array of teas in my pantry and after drinking tea for years, the ones that I have hardly drank are the black and green teas. I recently bought a new teapot. My old one just had one setting...to heat the water to almost boiling. My new pot has settings on it for which kind of tea you're making. Green tea is the lowest temperature of them all at 175 degrees. My point is that the first time I brewed this tea, the water was way too hot, therefore making the tea taste off. After using my new pot the tea did taste better, but overall this tea tastes too earthy for me and leaves a bad aftertaste.
I think I'll stick with the Oolong's I've been buying. This tea has a strong grassy flavor to it and costs $28.95 per 3oz. Very dissapointed!
This is one of my favorite green teas. Its closer in taste to a matcha green tea than others I have tasted and has a slightly earthy flavor. It's a very smooth and enjoyable cup. Will certainly keep this in my tea selection.
I have a pretty high standard for Japanese Tea. I got some in Tokyo a while back. This failed to live up to that high standard.
This is a very flavorful Japanese green tea. I drink it on special occasions.
This is one of my favorite green teas. It has a rich green hue to it, not as bright as the Kukicha (which is my favorite) but I still enjoy drinking this one in a clear or white cup. It is smooth and a perfect balance of sweet and grassy. Excellent for those that enjoy Japanese green tea or that want to try it for the first time. It brightens up my mornings and gets me ready to start my day!
Green tea is one of my favorite teas and Gyokuro is an especially nice green tea. It is light and a nice finale to a good meal.
This is my favorite of all green teas! The smell wakes me, the color is bold for a green tea, and it actually has a taste of green and sweet all at once. Not twiggy, grassy or earthy. Smooth and balanced. A bit of tannin on the end. Add some honey and perfection! I will come back to this tea over and over.
This tea personally was not very high on my list. It has a more delicate taste to it. Something similar to vegetables.
If you love eating your greens you'll enjoy this perfect green tea for its richness. I'm not sure what "grassy" means to tasters, but it doesn't seem to me that this tastes like grass in any bad way. And if it is vegetal again that is a good thing. Maybe the way you can tell if you'll like Gyokuro is to ask yourself if you like spinach. If you do you'll probably love this green tea.
This tea is special, and properly, it is referred to as a dessert tea, or a celebratory tea. It tastes nothing like sencha, which is my everyday tea. It has some matcha fines in it as brewed, and these fines keep the liquor more at green than yellow. In my experience, in spite of this tea's caffeine rating, it has a more stimulating effect than plain sencha. Following the directions in the making of this tea is more important than with almost any other tea. Great care can render great rewards. WCW
The Gyokuro Jade Dew I received is an excellent refined tea that goes down very smoothly. I've enjoyed it and can't wait to take some into work to drink during the day. This is a tea I'm looking forward to sharing with several friends and coworkers. A must try if you like Japanese tea!
This is a very green delicous tea. I love the Japanese green teas. This one is quite aromatic and so green. You'll know you've got a cup of green tea with this one. Michelle |
