This mug is fine for home use but very fragile so be careful. Also gets super hot but all and all works nicely
I got this today to replace a different brand that I have been using for about 2 years, which finally has cracked. I have tested this mug for heat resistance by boiling water in it in the microwave. So far, it has not cracked from the heat. I plan to use this mug all the time for drinking hot water day and night, and occasionally for steeping tea.
As others have pointed out they are fragile so I'm always thinking I'm going to break it. I think I like the concept and design better than I do drinking from it. A bit small for me plus I can't use any teas that have small leaves.
This mug is wonderful! I have two and use them all the time because there is just me and I only need one cup at a time, not a pot full. It is so easy to use and clean. I use a brush that you can put detergent and water (like the one by Dawn)in and the bristles are fine enough to get all the crevices easily. It also lets me see the beautiful colors of the teas. It's also great for the flowering teas.
I got this for a friend in CA as a gift, she LOVES IT! I need to get one for myself now!
I have used other mugs like this but what I love about this one is that it has a nice big handle and the infuser is glass instead of metal. I bought more for gifts after my son gave me one for a gift.
The lightweight glass of this mug and infuser make it a joy to use and to drink from. The wide, stable design means the mug is not easily tipped over. The lid is shaped so that liquid won't drip while it is being removed or replaced. The flat top makes it a perfect holder for the infuser, once steeping is done. A soft-bristle toothbrush will get the last bits out of the infuser slots. For very small leaves, such as rooibus, I use my Teeli infuser, or a paper filter, in the mug instead of the glass infuser. Complaints? I have large hands, and would like the handle to be roomier. I assume the fine, thin glass would be easily broken -- but then, I would just purchase it again. The key is to move slowly when handling a delicate item, especially when washing it. It's a good time to practice focusing one's awareness. I respect such a fine item and give it my best care. Note: the infuser arrived with a small crack in the glass, despite excellent packaging for shipment. Teas Etc responded promptly with a replacement. The customer service is as fine as the teas.
I really enjoy using this mug! The glasswear is a little delicate, so I am very careful with it. The tea leaves come through in quantity with certain teas, so I do not use it to brew everything. It has been great for oolong and white teas.
You would think this cup is very fragile but its not I've bumped it a few times and haven't broke it yet. The only thing I don't care for is the tea gets stuck in the infuser and also loose in the cup when you take it out. Other then that makes a great cup of tea
Love this to death. I use it a few times every day now, whether I drink all the tea by myself, or use it as a pot to pour into smaller cups for other people. Just put about a teaspoon of your favorite loose leaf tea into the glass infuser basket, add your water at the right temperature, and let it steep for a few minutes until the desired strength is reached (I keep the lid on to keep the heat in). Then take off the lid, set it down, take out the basket and place it in the lid (acts as a coaster) and enjoy an amazing and easy cup of tea. Keep in mind the basket is delicate, but I haven't broken mine like some other people have. Just be careful when washing/storing this one and it should last well past it's value. Easy to clean the little slots either running it under water or using something soft like an index card to clean it out.
This is a great little tea maker but is somewhat delicate. One can make one or two cups of tea with it.
While the mug itself does get hot, the handle does not, so it is very functional. The tiny slots in the glass infuser can be cleaned easily with the corner of a piece of paper; this is for the one or two tiny pieces that running water does not get out. I love watching the leaves brew, the tea develop color, and the flowers of flowering tea unfold!! Drinking tea is becoming a real "experience" for me - not just a functional thing. Use this glass mug and infuser and enjoy your experience!!
I have been using this mug at work for several weeks now, and I'd be lost without it. It's perfect for brewing multiple infusions -- some pu' er in the infuser will last me all day. I've found that a can of compressed air will clean the infuser slots very well, with no chance of breakage.
This mug is PERFECT. Having the mug in glass is great as it allows me to see the color of the teas as it brews (to know when I want to take the leaves out) and it is fun to see the brewing process. The brewing basket fills most of the cup to allow the leaves enough space to float and brew! The glass it strong and dishwasher safe! Truly the BEST brewing mug I have EVER had!
I love this set. I love using pretty things to drink out of and I love using glass cups. I got it this morning and immediately washed it and prepared a cup. I am delighted.
I just received this last week and brewed some flowering tea in it. It was very pretty to watch the tea steep. I did find the cup to be very very hot, actually transferred it to another mug.
I have several tea mugs, tea pots, infusers, etc. and this glass mug makes the best cup of tea, hands down. Glass really is the best vessel for making tea. Unfortunately, glass is also fragile. I'm on my third infuser. If you buy this product, use nothing stiffer than a thin postcard to clean the slots in the infuser or you will break it.
I loved it, but it broke, needs to be a lot thicker. Thanks
As with all Teas etc. glassware, it appears handmade and very delicate. Since the infuser is almost the entire size of the mug, it gives most teas more than ample room to expand and produces and excellent tasting cup of tea. The only drawback is that the infuser can get easily clogged/not drain if you have a tea with small/broken leaves (such as sencha/gyokuro, where whole leaves are not a processing priority).
Brewing loose tea could not be made any easier than it is with this glass mug and infuser. The glass is a bit thin and fragile-I have had to replace the infuser once. Still, it is what I use most when brewing at home.
I send this along with the Organic Green Tea Sampler as a perfect gift for someone. It's really idiot proof and a good introduction to brewing tea.
Very easy to use and great for a quick cup of good tea. A bit fragile though, I can see myself breaking the infuser!
This glass tea mug/infuser is very simple to use and very elegant. I am going to order several for a party!
I just recieved this and was very excited. Looks very nice while steeping and I love that the glass won't stain and is easy to clean...however the loose tea leaves get into the drinking cup. The strainer just didn't work well. I was really dissapointed since I had such high expectatons for this cup.
Just receieved my order today and I am so happy to have this! I had the same kind of mug for several years until it broke. Now I have my replacement! Thank you for carrying this wonderful tea mug!
I use this mug almost every night for a white tea (low caffeine) nightcap. It's quick and pretty to look at and brews beautifully. Very easy to use. |
