Get Real Get Loose Debuts At The 2009 World Tea Expo

Teas Etc, Inc. introduces Get Real Get Loose, a creative new line of serious tea with an approachable attitude. Totally eco-friendly packaging is paired with fun, hip, colorful designs, premium quality loose leaf tea and easy to use, compostable brewing filters

"The just add water approach is all about making specialty loose leaf teas simple and less intimidating. I have been nurturing this product idea for over 3 years," says Beth Johnston, Founder and CEO of Teas Etc, Inc. "I think the specialty tea industry has a seriousness that keeps everyday consumers from giving good tea a try. In addition, loose tea is perceived as difficult, time consuming and requiring gadgets and expertise. If America gets a taste of the ease of use and the quality of loose and ditches their old bags, we are in for a real revolution. Get Real Get Loose is here to lead the rebellion," Johnston states.

Packaging that is eco-friendly and maintains the integrity of the product was a challenge, starting with pre- and post-consumer recycled steel, water based inks, environmentally friendly glue, recycled paper and compostable filters that are packed in biodegradable bags made of plant material. "That's where the 'green' aspect of this product begins," says Johnston. "Consider the energy consumption used to create a teabag versus loose leaf tea. Loose tea uses less energy just from a packaging standpoint. Furthermore, some of the teas in this line are harvested and processed by hand, dramatically decreasing the environmental impact," Johnston says.

The product launch of Get Real Get Loose at the 2009 World Tea Expo will feature 12 tea types including certified organic and conventional varieties of black, white, green, oolong, herbal and rooibos teas, each in its own vibrant, color coded package that includes filters. Suggested retail is $16.95 each.
